Security Shift Supervisor – HMAS Stirling

We are seeking an experienced Security Shift Supervisor to lead operational security activities at HMAS Stirling, one of Australia’s most strategically important Defence locations. This position requires a confident leader who can coordinate a large team, maintain high compliance standards, and support a complex, regulated operational environment.
Role Overview
The shift supervisor is responsible for guiding a team of more than twelve Security Officers while overseeing all daily security functions across the base. The position reports directly to the Site Security Manager and plays an integral role in maintaining site integrity, operational readiness, and consistent service delivery. Additional opportunities for overtime are available.
Key Operational Responsibilities
Lead and mentor Security Officers throughout each shift, ensuring expectations are clear and performance standards are maintained.
Facilitate team briefings, support individual development, and encourage a professional, cohesive team environment.
Oversee access control, CCTV operation, alarm response, and routine patrols in accordance with Defence and organisational requirements.
Ensure security procedures comply with the Base Services Security Contract and work proactively to strengthen service quality.
Identify improvements in operational processes and contribute to system and workflow enhancements.
Develop productive working relationships with Defence personnel and stakeholders within a highly regulated and classified environment.
Maintain strict adherence to the Defence Security Policy Framework (DSPF) and the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
Manage administrative tasks including reporting, documentation, meeting coordination, scheduling, and system updates.
Use organisational software and scheduling tools effectively, including interpreting the Security Services Industry Award 2020 (SSIA).
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a professional with:
Eligibility to obtain an NV1 AGSVA security clearance (Australian citizenship required).
Ideally two or more years of leadership experience within the security sector, particularly in high-security or high-profile environments.
Strong situational awareness and an understanding of Defence culture and operational expectations.
WA Security Licence (mandatory) and proven capability across access control, monitoring, patrolling, and incident response.
Familiarity with the DSPF and the ability to apply award conditions under the SSIA 2020.
Excellent communication abilities and strong interpersonal skills suited to a sensitive, classified operational setting.
High-level computer literacy, particularly in reporting, policy administration, and workforce scheduling.
A proactive mindset with a focus on positive cultural leadership and operational improvement.
